Ben
Johnson: All about Lucy (1995)
Ben Johnson is a filmmaker and a lecturer
at the University of Bristol in the Applied Science Department.
He is interested in the popularisation and publicity of science.
Made on a very low budget, the film was written and directed by
Ben Johnson and funded by The British Council.
All about Lucy is a quirky and humorous exploration of
the connections between the oldest known human skeleton, a chimpanzee
who thought she was human, the film Out of Africa and the
story of Adam and Eve. It uses a collection of words and images
drawn from Renaissance painting and Genesis and gives us an unusual
insight into primordial sexuality blending the scientific with the
visual.
