Without Boundaries 2000

In 1999 Brief Encounters introduced its first programme of pioneering artists’ film work into the festival with the work of Ernie Gehr. This was followed in 2000 by inviting Picture This to programme retrospectives of work by John Smith, Tony Sinden and Tim Macmillan. A seminar focussing on alternative methods of producing and exhibiting short films was held which included a presentation on the history of artists using films from the 1920s to the present day by AL Rees, Senior Researcher at the Royal College of Art, London.
