the Giant Shrew
Will Bishop-Stephens is
a print-maker, illustrator, sculptor and animator based in Bristol.
Pooky first featured as a page in Wrongboy's Book of Modern
Mammals, a book of drawings produced by Will Bishop-Stephens
in 1999. Supported by a 'Kicking Off' award from the Arts Council,
Bishop-Stephens was offered the opportunity to make his first animation
in Flash by Picture This.
Pooky the Giant Shrew is a 90 second animation about Peter Finch, a small grey man who escapes the aggressively dull and unpleasant reality of industrial haulage contraction into the more happy and simple world of Pooky, his 7ft imaginary shrew.

Pooky has been
shown at Sea Bat Gallery in Cardiff, LUX Open, London, Spike Island
Open, Bristol, 9th Brief Encounters, Bristol and Medium Rare Cabaret,
London among other places.
