Commotion
An exciting new touring series of
programmes put together by curators from the UK , Finland, Ireland
and the Netherlands. The programmes are themed and explore different
issues or creative genres.
From The Inside
This programme of work looks
at the unique personal circumstances artists bring to their practice.
Films by Mircea Cantor, Paddy Jolley, Rosalind Nashashibi, and TJ
Wilcox draw on nationality, family histories/stories, religious
or political beliefs. The viewer gains a privileged insight into
a range of emotions, actions, landscapes, people and cultures that
have been drawn from the private – from the inside.
"On the surface,
there appears to be little in common with these artists apart from
the medium of film – their practice, content, style all differ vastly;
however the reason I feel there is a connection with the work is
they share with the viewer an expression of their own personal journeys
and stories. These ‘stories' – primarily sourced from family histories/stories
and circumstances relating to nationality – generously offer a privileged
insight into a range of emotions, actions, landscapes, people, cultures
that those of us on the outside might not otherwise be privvy to
or, indeed, have even considered."
