Three
Three is an
exhibition of new film and video works that utilise multi screens
as a means to communicate a range of contemporary cultural issues.
The exhibition includes
projects by artists Karen Brett, Gloria Ojulari Sule and Sarah Tulloch
in a show that gives voice to hidden lives, represents multicultural
identities and turns forgotten documentary into kaleidoscopic abstraction.
This is the first time these three Bristol based artists have worked
with film and video and this has been made possible through Picture
This ' unique Small Wonders scheme.
Karen Brett's Conversations
with Myself is a complex exploration of Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder. Internal voices jar with ordinary domestic settings in
three powerful portraits that document individuals experiencing
a compulsive episode.
Born in the UK , Gloria
Ojulari Sule was distanced at an early age from positive references
to her African heritage. In 2006, Ojulari Sule travelled to Dakar
where she became fascinated with African dress and inspired by the
special qualities and pride revealed by the wearer. HLM Costume
records the experience of having a traditional costume made.
Over the last five years
Sarah Tulloch has worked predominantly with found 35mm slides, overlaying
images to create beguiling installations. Double Exposure
marks a departure in that it reworks documentary film footage found
in the BBC Natural History Unit archive using the same technique.
