Maryam Jafri
Maryam Jafri is an artist working in video, performance and photo/text.
Informed by a research based, interdisciplinary process, her film works are structured by a language poised between film and theater, script and document. She holds a BA in English & American Literature from Brown University and is a graduate of the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. She lives in New York City and Copenhagen.
Recent exhibitions include Communitas, Camera Austria, Graz (2011), Bucharest Biennial (2010), Quebec City Biennial (2010), Biennale Cuvee, OK Centrum, Linz (2010) and Contour, 4th Biennial of the Moving Image, Mechelen (2009). In the UK her work was most recently on view in the exhibition "Estrangement" at the The Showroom (2010).
