Morstang: A Doll's House
Heidi Morstang is a Norwegian
artist who lives and works in Bristol and specialises in photography
and moving image. Morstang has taken part in group exhibitions at
The National Portrait Gallery in London and The Museum of Contemporary
Arts and Illustration in Valencia. A Doll’s House
is a moving image work influenced by Henrik Ibsen’s play of
the same that has been commissioned through Picture This' Small
Wonder’ scheme and supported by the Norwegian Embassy.
A Doll's House is constructed from digital video stills
of a densely forested and frozen landscape, dominated by snowy hills,
wide open spaces and frozen lakes. Pathways through the snow are
vital visual and symbolic elements in the piece. The sound consists
of ski blades cutting through the snow and also sounds of wind,
silence and ice breaking.
